SF and NYC Photos

Maggie and I went on an extended vacation to celebrate our one-year anniversary since we did not have a honeymoon. We spent 4 days in San Francisco and 5 days in New York City. Hanging out with friends and family, seeing the sights, and relaxing,

SFSaulsilito
Here is the view of SF and the Bay Bridge from Suasilito (home of John Steinbeck).

SFSpenger2
SFSpenger1
This is Spenger's Fish Grotto in Berkeley. My parents used to come here for dates. RIP mom and dad.

SFMillValley
The view off the deck of a little bistro in Mill Valley. Maggie and I spent our first year anniversary here.

SFMuirWoods
The Muir Woods. Maggie and I went on a little hike here and drove around the craziest curved roads to get there.

SFMaggie2
Maggie above the Golden Gate Bridge. She hates having her photo taken.

SFDoor
All around the Golden Gate Bridge and the Bay area are a bunch of de-commissioned forts. Here is a look inside a bunker. Look how the door frames the window and the ground behind it.

SFGolden
We went to go get some picturesque views of the Golden Gate, but were met with fog. Go figure.

SFMaggie1
Maggie at Union Square. She actually likes this photo, and so do I.

SFUnion
Poseidon?

SFHancock
Hancock Building from Chinatown.

SFFuneral
This was part of a funeral march. Apparently, if you are a notable figure in the Chinese community, the city allows these elaborate funeral marches in your former neighborhood. There was also a marching band playing a slow, sad song.

SFChina7
I wonder what this says, because the English above makes no sense.

SFChina4
The Bay Bridge.

SFChina1
SF Chinatown.

SFChina6
My auntie loves these flat, fortune-cookie style treats you can get from this place. I bought her 3 bags.

SFChina5
I'm thinking of placing these signs all around the edge of the kiddie pool at the Bellingham Skatepark. "Coming in!"

SFChina3
SFChina2
Chinatown Alleyways. There is alot going on here.

Off to NYC.

NYCGreenpointe
We stayed in the Greenpointe / Williamsburg area with two of my favorite people in the world. Thanks Tasha and Cailen.

NYCWaterTower
There are watertowers all over NYC, but I liked this one because it had a little flavor to it.

NYCAwning
My friend Steve would call this place a "Murder-Mart" because they're always getting held up, but this one has a good-looking, old-school type awning.

NYCSubway
Subway-Queens. This place smelled like death and corn nuts.

NYCRestaurant
An amazing awning from the back deck of a Brooklyn Deli.

NYCFinancial
The Financial District from the Brooklyn Bridge.

NYCBB1
NYCBB2
NYCBB4
Brooklyn Bridge at the golden hour.

NYCBB3
The Manhattan Bridge. Under the bridge on the left is a skatepark. Its legoland style, but fun nonetheless.

NYCTeddy
Teddy Roosevelt holding down the Museum of Natural History.

NYCLightpost
An interesting lightpost outside the Museum.

Here are some photos from the inside:

NYCWindow
NYCVulture
I like these guys. Endangered species.
NYCBear
I doubt this guy comes to life at night.
NYCAntler
Peep the antlers.
NYCTusks
NYCDinosaur
Dead.
NYCMask
This guy chases me in my dreams.
NYCSkeleton
Kiddie skeleton. Pretty sure this one is real and not plaster.

NYCLennon
Walked through the Strawberry Fields. We also saw this musical / movie with nothing but Beatles music. Kinda cool.

NYCCentralPark
Advertising in the skies.

NYCBridge1
NYCBridge2NYCBridge3
This is the bridge that I purposed to Maggie on in January 2005. She said "yes," as you can imagine.

NYCPub
This is the oldest continually operating bar in the U.S. The floor is covered with sawdust and it smells like stale beer. When you order they give you 2 beers at once, and they have this rule, if you aren't drinking, then you're leaving.

NYCLibrary
A light fixture from inside the NYC Public Library. For those of you that don't know, I plan on going back to school to become a librarian. This place was definately inspiring.

That's it. Back to B-ham and the real world.

Birthday Boys

Two of Meat Tortillas founding members celebrated their birthdays this week, so next time you see Commander-in-Chief, Jared, and self-proclaimed jerk, Tall Kyle, give them a high five for being born.

you might still....

think you have the option of becoming a big time "SKATE" guy. Traveling the world with other stars, filming for the big video, signing autographs, making out with 16 year olds, or having your photo published in the mag. Well, I hate to break the news to you kids, but its not going to happen. Your just to occupied with stardom to make it to the big time. You might as well start drinking beer and skating less, because as you see, thats how you get published. Congratulations to our good pal Leon, the Strangers, DRUNK OF THE WEEK!

Everett

About a month, Cam and I went down to Everett to skateboard with a few friends. Anyway, here is a couple of pics taken by Sean Motag. I've this guy since he was 13 or 14, and now he is quickly becoming a really great photographer. If you have some extra time to kill, you should check out:

http://seanmotag.blogspot.com/ and http://flickr.com/photos/trashcash for some photos of Seattle area skaters.

sorry about......

the super lack in recent posts. It's just that the bellingham park was finally completed so all my time has been dedicated to destroying my hips, wrists, and the rest of my body. If you haven't skated the park yet, assuming you don't live hear, come visit. good park, good scene, guarenteed good time. I'm working on a park montage, which hopefully will be up in the near future, but in the meantime here's a pic i took to give you a peek at whats going on....

short dreams

last night i had the good fortune of dreaming i was hanging out with these guys.

pretty rad, friendly and hospitable they are. But have you ever heard the urban myth of the actor/dwarf who didn't get the part as the lollypop dude and killed himself on the set........
