another art profile!!!!

if you know me, you know i really love and appreciate art. I have a pretty awesum collection of my close friends werk hangin in my psuedo gallery of a homestead with cherished pieces by none other than, matt french, mike fleemon, the poopcow, kyle gabouer, aaron fillion, kate lindsay, jon strieby brian claybrook, todd bratrud and toby stanger......... all artists whom i admire for their not only there creativity and skill, but ability to not get stuck doing the same dang thing (art-wize).

If you have been following the tortilla for a substantial amount of time or were part of the skate scene in this town 10 years ago, or maybe were even sponsored by alva at one point then yer familiar with the last name mentioned. Toby Stanger, aka the autistic sasquatch has now been a good friend of mine for a solid ten. Although the mighty sasquatch is quite a elusive creature, we have managed to stay in touch and any meeting between the two of us always results in smiles and a departing hug. i love the guy. He has always blown my mind, but i have seen his technique develop heaps and bounds over the years. He has been makin a name for himself in a silent-killer fashion, displaying his werk at numerous artshows across the states and continues to hold it down here in town. Art walk is the first friday of every month. you should stop by his studio next friday and have a cheap beer with him. Did i mention my first published photo in thrasher was one of him for his canvas in the beforementioned mag. big hugs big guy. you been dealt sum cards but you came out on top.

road trip.......

to the olympic pennisula. i headed out that way mon. morning to go visit the folks, do a little skating and just sum general pondering of life. on my way out i stopped by the kingston skatepark to let the mr. take a dookie. thats pretty much the last the camera came out. that being said, this post is basically a 'graffiti of the kingston skatepark' post. enjoi. obviously i'm goin with biggy.

despite my plee......

for more art submishions for da shite, i have received a total of 0. maybe you don't want the hype. i'm the same way i suppose. Fortunately, every so often things fall into yer lap, giving you the content without the donation. well kinda. "Hey Jared, whats it called when sumone, you know, like wears a lot of hatz? like can do a lot of things"? Well after a few seconds of pondering i sum how came up with multi-faceted as the adjective and sum how (once again) hit the nail on the head. Well the author of that question as well as the subjekt of our featured artist this post is a young women named Jessica DeBoer, and she is in fact, a artist who wears many hats.

She is currenty preparing herself for a interview with Ride snowboards this week and needed photos taken of sum of her werk. Thats wear i came into play and thus the images which are about to grace yer eyes. I shoot just about anything and enjoi it. Setting up lighting and shooting peoples own forms of art falls no short. thanks for the opportunity. multi-faceted indeed. keep it up Jessica.

that was just the warmup. not sure what it is about that spot but i love watchin footage from it. Maybe its the variation, maybe the link wallride crazyness or maybe the complete destruction. Well heres more of the spot and then a full part from Pontus' movie. Damn he's sick.

got a little sumtin together. footage is from the last couple weeks. kinda randumb stuff. skated the sweet new indoor last night and sumhow skated a unheard-of/backwoods indoor ramp up in ferndale tonight, thats rad as jelly. not sure how i never heard of this one, or anyone, for that matter, but it was a blast and i'm glad to have duders digits.

I have been skating and hanging out with ryan for a good 9 or ten years now? When we first met, Bellingham had finally gotten a park. I had been living here at that point for 4 years or so, so it was a big fuckin deal. Anyways, when the park opened there were fun, heated sessions non-stop for pretty much a couple years. Maybe the first or second day the park was open i ended up breaking my wrist. I was livin in my van at the time. I had just met ryan a couple hours? earlier, but he ended up takin me to the hospital and givin me a place to stay. I ended up sleepin in there parking lot for quite sum time.. Anyways if you know ryan you know how natural he is.

Another note. i have shot more photos and have more photos of my friend than anyone. i owe him a lot for lettin me point my camera at him for the last ten years, in which iv'e learned so much. Sumtimes i go back and look at old stuff i printed back then and it's still the best ever and i have so much of it. thanks buddy. yer a inspiration.





the board he is riding in this photo, i got at a garage sale on the side of the hwy. on the way to stevens pass in Washington. It had handlebars that mounted on the front truck and the graphic was 'barbie and the rockers'. It was 2 bucks, bought it, took the handlebars off, put sum spitfire classics and sum new bearings and it was a rad grocery getter. ryan, on the other hand, would just air big hips instead.

is a rad kid. in fact, i didn't even really know he was so young until the other day. He's always down to hype up the sesh and always hypin up gettin clips, but for sum reason or another it usually doesn't pan out. this day was an exception. Here are a few photos from a spot that has been there forever, but always gets looked over. Eli brought it back and got a sick arse photo (to be seen later) and sum clips at a neighboring joint. way to go wet lipz. you finally came through.
